Change Screenshot Format on Mac to JPG, PNG, TIF, PDF, GIF or BMP

By default Mac saves screenshot files in PNG format. To change file format for other format you you need to issue below command with your choice of file format. To issue command you need to bring Treminal windows from Applications –> Utilities –> Terminal.

defaults write com.apple.screencapture type jpg

You can choose any one of the file format from below list :

• BMP
• GIF
• JPEG-2000
• JPEG
• PDF
• PICT
• PNG
• PSD
• SGI
• TGA
• TIFF
